Giovanni Paolo Panini painted lovely picture galleries containing several views of Rome. It is not just serious art- but is is also pretty darned cute. Today it looks like a collage of picture postcards, but in his day, this idea was probably very unique. Why buy dozens of pictures when you can buy one painting containing many views of Rome? These two painting are in the Louvre, but there is another version of the "Modern Rome" painting that is located in the Metropolitan museum in NYC.
