Pig Hunting, 2 sets of good tusks.

I got these pigs late in January. The front one is a Barrow (no nuts) and was the first shot and he was foraging. The back pig was shot whilst trying to flee the scene. Both took two shot to put them down as I only had the 223 and 55Gn bullets. It did the job though.

do you have any trouble hunting pigs with the .223?

is it too small, can you drop'em easily?

I would say that the 223 is fine for small pigs, there really is not much room for error and projectile choice can see blow ups on the side of the animal. For reliable kills on all sized pigs I would use a larger calibre. I was just carrying this rifle on the day as I was looking for dingoes.

@russ4570 no worries mate i had a mini 14 (back when they were legal) used 20 round mags on it, was a great fun weapon. yep and used them on pigs, if the first shot didnt work i had 19 more behind it :)

@mfactor88 308 out to 500m my 30/30 is capable out to 300m and 200m easy puts them away. u sound like a gamin fuck if u failed with the shot gun. over kill wont help u if your just crap all together witch sound like u are
