This is my 8 second video stretched out to a frame by frame slow motion video so that everyone can see exactly how it looks when it folds over and gets sucked towards the ground at full throttle.

As you can see I had to make a run at full throttle (and keep full throttle till the end of the loop) make a hard banked anti clockwise turn and dive, then on the downhill run pull back full stick elevator and watch the tail to keep it inline as it almost stalls at the top of the loop.

I dont know why it works to loop this little rc helicopter in this fashion, but it seems this combination of quick full throttle moves must make the flybar come around to allow the heli to go over quicker.

  • so not doing it

  • @howardflight09 once youve looped it its like pffft what was that all about, so much effort for what really is a minimally controlled fall out of the sky due to stall, much more fun from a 450 or similar CP heli

  • That's cool! Definitely not a stunt to attempt below the minimum "3 x Oops" altitude :-)

As for wondering about the anti-clockwise needed to setup the loop, I suspect gyroscopic precession is what is causing the flybar to over compensate and flip the heli over centre - after that it is just pilot skill to recover smoothly.

  • @ehu42 Yes definately not something to attempt below 3x oops levels, lol. Many attempts at differnt approach angles have concluded for me that the forces need to be thrown around (hence the anti clockwise turn) just before the loop (really more like a fall over the balance point) however I have done this a lot easier with a lighter and flatter flybar, no need to anti clockwise turn (less gyro effect of the flybar?) still has a tendancy though to turn and roll almost 90 deg from appraoch angle

  • echt gut gemacht, hab deinen beitrag bei 3d-heliforum gesehen... echt gut gemacht :)

  • i can only get about one pirouette in 2 seconds or maybe 1 and a half... quite annoying in my opinion, and i dont have the money for a dx6i -.- combined with the throttle problem - unstable tail - its hard to fly some good-looking maneuvers...

is there a possibility to tune up the tail motor without the need of soldering and all that amazing technical stuff? or do i just have to learn with that and try flying the blade sr afterwards?

  • hey, really amazing! i saw your videos of the brushless motors too, quite a great job ;) i have a stock msr, but the tail motor is absolutely not strong enough to keep my maneuvers... i have to say i just got the msr 2 days ago, before that i just flew a mcx, but i think i´m pretty good in heli flying, there´s really cool stuff. but when i give full throttle the tail always moves around... and besides that, i use a blade sr hp6dsm remote, which surprisingly is freaking slow with the tail...

  • problem is that you need lift to pull up with and just think of this its a fixed pitch heli so throttle is the only way to get lift, the less throttle the less the stick responds, so you want maximum response to get to recover the heli
