even if you fall from the transporter once you hit the switch, you can go to the stairs and just jump up them u dont have to go all the way back by falling into a whirlpool

Well, just did all the backtracking. Do you still remember in which of the videos is explained how to activate the portals? Not that it should matter much now, I think.
I am inside Nirude's Lair right now, trying to figure out the puzzle with the five statues.

Believe it or not, I am playing this for the very first time, and I am at exactly at a point covered on this video. Problem is, do I have to go around ALL the way through Torla Mountain to destroy the third stonehead? Why is it the teleporter is not functional to me, and the one on the video works?

You probably didn't activate the portals. I did it a few videos back.
And yeah, if you didn't then you're stuck going all the way around. Kind of ridiculous.
