Not really. This is the last song in an enormous medley set in the clouds, in Songwriter's Heaven or something like that. Even Lena Horne is wearing white in the medley. In the Old Hollywood, I guess they thought that was the dress code in Heaven. It's art design more than anything else. Jerome Kern died while the film was being made, so that's where all the angelic hoo-hah comes from. What was supposed to be a tribute to Kern turned into a lavish Technicolour memorial.
