Smiley's real name is Andrei Maria. He was born on the 27th of July, 1983 in Pitesti (a city near Bucharest, Romania).
At the age of 10, he descovered his calling for music and began to embrace it.
After 3 years of singing in his first group called Millenium 3, in 2001 Smiley made his debut in the music mainstream, as the lead singer of the group "Simplu".
While a member of Simplu, he had several number one singles such as:
Mr. Originality, Oficial imi merge bine, Zece, Jumatatea ta, O secunda, Sa zburam spre cer, Hai, Bye, or Oare stii.
The group Simplu released 5 albums, each one of them awarded with gold discs, for record sales in Romania.
In parallel, Smiley developed a solo career.

He released his first solo album in 2008. The album is described by the artist as being a material that reflects his personal life.
The album features 4 number one singles:
„In lipsa mea", "Preocupat cu gura ta", "Am bani de dat", and "Designed to love you".

Smiley was awarded with
-Gold Disc Award for his first album: "In lipsa mea".
-Gold Disc Award as the composer of the album "Yamasha" for Alex.
He was also awarded on the Romanian Music Awards show for
-Best album -- "In lipsa mea"
-Best Solo Artist
-Best Song - "In lipsa mea"
and Best Show, with Simplu.

The artist also starred in the film "Un film Simplu", translated "A simple movie", where he is performing with his close friends from the group Simplu, in a film consisting some of their life stories: a romantic comedy, which reminds us that life would be simple and beautiful if we wouldn't complicate ourselves daily.
Smiley also participated and got to the final twice in the most popular tv show in Romania - Dansez pentru tine, translated „Dancing for you". In the show, the artists have the opportunity to prove their dancing skills for a humanitarian cause.

Hundreds of live concerts, original and interactive concepts for shows, but first of all his talent and charisma, made Smiley the most popular artist in Romania in 2009, thus he is currently the main icon promoting Pepsi and Vodafone in his country.
