How to create a sin city style effect using Final cut express

Place 2 copies of the same clip on the time line
Add the chroma Key filter to one clip then select the colour you want to keep. Press the invert button
Add the colour corrector to the other clip then move the sats all the way down.

And that's it

You could add more filters to either clip to change to look of the video

  • reply this video to my sin city effect tutorial so people can see it.

  • i dotn have color corrector

  • You can add the chroma key (or any effect) more than once to any clip.

  • How do I use the Chroma Key for more than one specific color? I only get the option of widening the spectrum not of selecting another color... help?

  • you can use keyframes or just cut a part of the video in the interval of time you want that effect :)

  • i have a question, when i put a effect on a clip it applies it to the WHOLE thing i don't want it to apply to the whole thing! so lets say i want to put the effects from 000000 to 00:03:02 how do i do that!?

  • you could also save yourself a lot of bother just using the colour pass option in effects?!

this is effort where there should be none required

  • we want audio
