Korean Dog Meat - Former Pets 1

Parts 1 and 2 of the Former Pets videos come from a TV program first aired in Korea in 2008. It caused controversy and concern. Parts 3 and 4 are from a second program by the same network aired in 2011. They look at whether things had improved since the first revelations.

What all of the videos do is expose the lies that have long been perpetrated by dog eaters and dog meat supporters in Korea. One lie is to say only special dogs are bred on farms for dog meat. First, it was never true that only special dogs end up as dog meat. Any kind of dog is turned into dog meat in Korea. Although Jindos or a breed of dog called a Yellow Dog are common on farms, the meat served in restaurants might come from any type of dog.

The statement that only a special breed of dog is farmed also implies that these dogs are somehow "meant" to be farmed for meat. But this dog-meat industry propaganda only eases the conscience of shallow thinking people. As anyone with common sense can tell you, a dog is a dog regardless or whether it is stuck in a farm cage or a beloved pet. They all suffer the same.

As the TV show reveals, a lot of dog meat comes from abandoned and betrayed former pets. All kinds of pet dogs are killed and eaten, even if they are disease ridden. If there's a buck to be made and an ignorant public keeps up the demand, any kind of dog in the wrong place is doomed.

The Korean government has failed in its responsibility to fix this barbaric situation because it is weak and prefers inaction. It would rather be stuck in the past than show some guts and advance the country into a more civilized era.

Ich bin schon für Aufklärung u. das Video tut es ja auch, aber es geht einem doch ganz schön am Herzen, wie Grausam u. Empathie los doch diese Bastarde mit dem Lebewesen um gehen. Medikamente werden dort gefälscht hergestellt u. in die Welt Verkauft. Denen schert es einen Dreck was andere Länder über sie denken u. sagen. Es sind sehr unter Entwickelte Länder, denen der Tierschutz am Arsch vor bei geht. Genau so wie die Menschen Rechts Konvention. Traurig aber wahr.
