A teacher was removed from McGavock High School after a bizarre incident in a classroom that forced the principal to call parents and explain what happened.

The incident happened in Donald Wood's 11th grade algebra class Friday. Video shot by a student in class showed Wood throwing two tables, a garbage can and a chair.

The video starts with Wood telling a group of laughing students to "sh More..ut up."

After standing quietly for about 20 seconds while students laughed, Wood waved his arms and said, "If you can be absolutely quiet... if you can shut your mouth... you can shut your mouth and you can listen in absolute silence... do you know why? Cause I have the absolute..."

"Power!" shouted one of the students.

"I've got it, and I know it," said Wood. "And guess who else knows it?"

Wood shouted something else that could not be understood before knocking a table to the ground. He then walked to the other side of the classroom and knocked over another table.

He shouted, "Do you know who started the fire? Do you know who started the fire in this school?"

A student said something inaudible, and Wood continued, "No... me!"

Wood picked up a metal trash can and slammed it to the ground. Students then began to leave the classroom. Witnesses said Wood then picked up a chair and threw it at the window - breaking the glass.

"He picked a chair and threw it on the ground -- not at a student, but towards a student, but it was close -- and that's when I got up and started walking away," said junior Joshua Jenkins. "Once everybody started running out he picked up a chair and threw it out the window and it shattered."

And when I say a hot ass mess I mean a hot ass mess! They were so disrespectful it was rediculous. And this was my senior year from 5 years ago and I'm talkin about folks 3 years younger then me come on now. Parents need to do better with their children and how to approach their teachers because this is just disgusting.

I went to stratford another school in nashville and I can tell you the kids are very disrespectful towards the teachers. Especially these younger ones example my senior year I was in a class full of underclassmen they were so disrespectful and mean that the teacher just quit and I flat out refused to be in there after that and the sub was fine with that. I also had to retake algebra and they wanted to be in a class full of freshmen but I couldn't do it those kids were just a hot ass mess.

this is goddamn ridiculous. those clown ass kids should be kicked out for even having cellphones in class, let alone getting lippy to a teacher. meanwhile there are kids in 3rd world hell holes like india who go to school in mud huts, are eager to learn, and show their teachers the utmost respect. i went to high school in some jank ass area of the bronx, and even the delinquents and thugs didnt pull this kinda goof ass shit....these mofos laughing and screaming like jackasses...

    More like MCHAVOK!

but seriously though, besides the fact that I know very little about the whole situation, I can't help but feel this event acts as a rorschach test. It elicits inner feelings about school that I have.

I can't help but want to side with the teacher rather than the students on this one. Even though the whole thing is a shame.

lol. I think it's sad too. We've god young kids in this country with their heads on backwards. Their minds polluted with mainstream garbage from the television. The teachers have their hands tied. They're disheartened in a system that just isn't working. Both the students and the teachers become jaded about school and the entire experience can become a soulless mess. What happened to values? I'm just 25 so it's not like I'm some old man doing the "back in my day" bit. I saw this growing up.
