'If you haven't heard Lemos perform--and you really should experience his singing live, for he is a very charismatic performer--you'll notice how his vocal quality and expressive manner have a sort of "nervous" intensity that differs from the more lyrical, silver-throated legato technique of, say, David Daniels or Andreas Scholl. Some of this is due to the nature of the songs, which demand emotional emphases that occasionally place deeply-felt passion above pure beauty of tone. And Lemos is completely in command of both his musical material, much of which involves the ornamental slides and micro-tonal melodies characteristic of Middle Eastern music, and language, whether Spanish or Ladino (the "native tongue of Iberian Jews").'

Superb : I love these Sephardic songs. They speak immediately to my heart - there is a sense of longing, a touch of mystery and an Oriental magnetism in the music, the text... and the excellent way José Lemos manages the performance. This is a song to treasure. Straight to my favourites! Thanks so much!

@SuperMischa123 Dear friend, it must be such a wonderful coincidence that PrimaRagazza introduced you to one and only Jose Lemos's art at the same time when I saw your comment on Daniel Taylor's video and shared with you Lemos's unbelievably beautiful rendition of Verdi prati!:-) Do you believe in such coincidences?:-)I still recommend you very much to listen to Lemos's Verdi prati, E pur io torno and all his Sephardic songs too which is difficult to say what is better, e.g. Esterica Sarfati:-)

I agree with 'fourny1060. These Sephardic songs lead me to a place within me wherein I feel totally centered as a singer and musician. No other music does that to the same extent, with the exception of Scottish Gaelic songs.
