Hi, as the editor of Heartworn Highways, I would just like to make it clear that this clip comes from our film, and not from For the Sake of the Song. Heartworn is a wonderful film, and for those of you who haven't seen it or have seen the older version of it I would like to point out that as of this last Christmas, a newly remastered version was put online at iTunes, Amazon Instant, Vudu, Xbox, CinemaNow et. al. for a very reasonable price; we'd love your support.

I am 46. If you took all of my words and combined the emotion into one ball, it would not even equal one verse of this song. That's not a knock on me, it is a high praise of Townes.

Same with me. Phillip should buy very nice presents to all those who posted videos from the film. I have bought a CD and the online version of the film. Would buy several copies of the DVD if they released it (not willing to pay $200 a copy!).

I agree. I bought the e-version, but would love the disc. Also, easier to send a disc to others as a present. Come on Phillip, get it pressed.

"this is the first song I ever wrote"
I know a lot of songwriters who would be happy to write 1 song this good in their life time.

It is worth noting that Townes died of complications related to alcoholism, not heroin. From what I have read, he used drugs when he was younger, but alcohol was his primary addiction. Alcohol may kill you slower and is less likely to draw someone into criminal activity, but it can be just as destructive for some people.

Well one thing is obvious, which is that it is easier to start than to stop. I appreciate the empathy and good intentions behind your message. Good for you for getting out of it, it hardly even seems possible. It's difficult to admit, especially given how smart I think of myself as, that what I'm doing is not at all reasonable. I'd never hurt anyone though. Anyway, thanks for the message, it's important to hear it from someone who's been through it.
