This is so powerful. It's pretty amazing Townes lived as long as he did. Around this time he was heavy into heroin and booze, and he OD'd around this time and had to be brought back around. He truly wasn't waitin' around to die.

@xorezx1 This was back in 1975, and he was 79 then. Wikipedia says he died in 1977, but I think it was 1979. I had already moved from the Clarksville neighborhood to San Antonio, so I'm not certain.
@laveritablebelette Uncle Seymour Washington was nearing the end of his life, but it was a long life. Townes was a young man but singing a song about "Waitin' Around to Die." Townes was already a heavy all-day drinker, among other bad habits. I think "Unc" was crying for himself some but more for the talented young man who seemed bent on self-destruction.
