"In the chapel in the moonlight" was a massive hit of the 1936/37 season so - obviously - many recorded versions exist from Gracie Fields to Dean Martin. In France the song became tremendously popular as "La chapelle au clair de lune" - originally sung by Assia de Busny but made famous by Léo Marjane, the legendary French female crooner.
The version presented in this video was recorded by the orchestra of Victor Silvester (1900-78). Silvester was world champion balllroom dancer who founded his own orchestra in 1935 because he felt there were no adequate records for dancing.... He went on to sell more than 75 million records throughout his career.

The video features another English legend : the ocean liner RMS Queen Mary - who made her maiden trip in 1936 and remained a fovourite with the travelling public until her retirement in 1967. The video shows her leaving on her maiden voyage as well as her conversion to a troop ship during the Second World War. Being a museum as well as a hotel, she is now berthed in Long Beach, California.

Chouette version! Peu d'instruments, c'est simple mais efficace (surtout la petite intro au piano.) Merci!
