Reasons both moral and pragmatic come to mind. As the wealthiest country and a model of decency (some would legitimately debate, but on balance we are), international aid is a moral imperative. But also, ever more so in a "shrinking" world our greatest source of influence is financial. We can't go it alone. We need economic, information, and strategic alliances, all impacted greatly by monetary disbursement.

Balancing international and domestic spending, though, involves many tough choices.

The fact that Obama went on this absurd show is both courageous and pointless. Attempting to argue with OReilly is not unlike talking to a brick wall. Surprisingly enough, Obama shoves Bill's obnoxious face into the dirt. Not to mention this interview was edited in an attempt to make Bill appear superior
