The mass to charcoal conversion ratio is depending on many factors such as original moisture content in wood matrix and also in the pores, the original carbon percentage (in contrast the impurity), the carbonization temperature and carbonization time which affect the fixed carbon content, etc.

In brief, you can expect about 25-35% conversion for normal wood but if with high carbonization temperature (for example 1,100 degree Celsius),....
