Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation: Obstacles and Possibilities in Sydney and Beirut

The Faculty of Health Sciences at AUB and The Research and Policy Forum on Climate Change and Environment in the Arab World at the Issam Fares Institute held a lecture entitled: "Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation: Obstacles and Possibilities in Sydney and Beirut" by Abbas El-Zein. The seminar presented and discussed some of the difficulties encountered when applying vulnerability concepts to a municipal setting, referring specifically to Metropolitan Sydney.
Dr. Abbass El Zein, a former AUB Environmental Health professor, obtained his PhD in Computational Mechanics from the University of Southampton, UK, in 1990. His research falls in the area of computational mathematics and environmental science and engineering. In addition, Dr. El Zein has an active interest in educational research, specifically teaching computing and environmental sustainability to science and engineering students.
