Small issue though. I think Djangos best recordings were 1949, also with Grappelli, but his chops, passion, and maturity (for lack of better word) were at another peak. Joscho's playing now is very like Djangos before the war. For Django, his before the war and 1949 brilliance are just different, not better or worse, but jazz had progressed to an even more sophisticated, but not yet spacy and unmelodic, place and Django did sophistication and melodic nuance better anyone ever.
@Janjanovitch9 ah come on, some of the strumming is jaw-dropping and it accents the music really well. can't agree with the string-bends comment either (although I think it is pretty awesome to hear someone describe a guitarists string-bending as obnoxious!!!)
He's a technical wizard, but I really don't enjoy the way he articulates notes with either hand. His guitar often sounds like it is quacking...something that would be better suited in country or bluegrass. Also, his bending is really obnoxious.
@MrJohnKrauthaker No way. Django destroyed most guitarists at that time even now with 2 fingers. Imagine what he could do with his left hand having its full function. Besides, Django "founded" this kind of music.
Joscho is so good!
