Heres a tip:

its kinda mean but..

when my mom said i would have to stop taking drum lessons for a while.

Then i got angry and concentrated more on the drums to show her that i really wanted it.

hey man heres the best tip i can give. force him to practice constantly =). he wont regret it and he will be one of the greatest drummers at this rate
