Title explains it all. I went to Popeye's. Compare this to my other Road Test video that was only using internal mic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJbFZAg-ass
The Sony Stereo mic made it louder and clearer but I still should adjust the gain a bit louder since I didn't even touch the gain settings on the Zi8 at all yet.
Side note: image stabilization is on but is still a bit shaky due to my car having lowered springs and I'm using one of those baby tripods where the legs are flexible and I just used scotch tape to secure it to my dash. Not the best set up but it works for the most part.

Unless people's purpose for using this external mic is to record music in their car, your demonstration is pointless.

How does this mic do with bass? I got a Drift HD camera with an external mic, and whenever I listen to the radio, the bass distorts the mic real bad, so I'm looking for one that doesn't...

Not to take anything away from your reason for posting this video, but I am glad none of you decided to go on green after watching the pick-up truck run through the red light. I'm sure it obviously was an emergency for them to do so.

Damn I've been using my zi8 with the internal mic for a long time, and..
holy shit, i need an external mic. It's such a pain in the ass to make a video inside the car driving with the zi8's internal mic because it always silences out. This external mic in this video sounds pretty good.

@scfunnyehlol yeah an external mic can do wonders. The one I have has a little black wind screen thing so it blocks out most wind.

Also, I saw somebody had this mic on but it only had one channel. Did you split the audio or something? Or did that guy plug it in wrong?

@FutureInventions The guy must have plugged it in wrong. This mic (sony ecm ds30p) as well as the higher model 70p one both are stereo mics. His might have been an defect.

Hey ApG, this is a really cool mic but can it still stay on if the camera is on a tripod? Like would there be room because i might get it?

@metaknight1000 sorry for the late response but yeah the mic will stay on while on a tripod. there is no conflict between the two.
