Eagle Flight at Auburn BCS Championship Game 2011

This was an AUsome flight of the eagle during the National Anthem at the Auburn vs Oregon BCS National Championship game. Even though I don't think is was our Auburn eagle, notice the "WAR EAGLE" rally cry right after the conclusion of the National Anthem. What a flight! What a game!

I knew we were going to win as soon as i heard that an eagle was to fly before the game! War eagle! That season was meant to be!!

When Nova took flight, I stood up at the National Championship party I was at (which doubled as a Court of Honor celebration) in my Boy Scout Uniform (I had achieved Eagle Scout the day before) and saluted the whole time, not caring what people thought of me. I was so proud of my favorite college team and of our tradition. Suddenly, the other Eagle Scouts stood and saluted with me, and I teared up. I couldn't help it. It was an amazing thing to see and do.

WAR EAGLE:::::::It's the battle cry and the fight song. When we greet other Auburn fans it's WAR DAMN EAGLE, or just WAR EAGLE. Aubie is the mascot, Nova is the battle cry. In the Civil War, a soldier from Alabama found a wounded eagle. Several years later, the soldier (a former AU student) returned to college as a faculty member bringing the bird with him. After AU won their first football game in 1892 vs UGA the eagle got loose, circled the field, eventually fell and died.
