Adam discusses the recent comments made by Stephen Hawking about science, God, and Heaven. Does science explain away the existence of God? Can something come from nothing? Is the human brain like a machine? Is Heaven a fairy tale humans made up to make ourselves feel better about the future?

  • YOU SIR, DO NOT KNOW THAT SOMETHING CANNOT COME FROM NOTHING. OUT HUMAN MINDS CANNOT COMPREHEND WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO COMPREHEND. MAYBE IT DID COME FROM NOTHING, AND MAYBE IT DIDN'T BUT REALLY WHO FUCKING CARES PEOPLE.

  • @PahubianInfluence666 Yes. The world is mysterious. But here's why I care-It matters what we think the fundamental reality of the universe is. If we think it's nihilism, then, yes, who cares and all that matters is living the way you want. If, on the other hand, the fundamental reality is grace, love, and the gift of creation, then we are invited to live into that meaning. Then it's not about fulfilling our desire-it's about loving our neighbors, including our enemies.

Stephen Hawking ignorant of Science? Sure pal, and Tiger Woods is ignorant of Golf and Coppola knows fuckall about making Movies.

  • And how is it that the very simple concept of Burden of Proof can be understood by a 6 year old yet eludes you Retards completely?

  • The argument about Utilitarianism leading to scapegoating fails, because Hawking (and I think Bentham) don't argue that we should necessarily do what feels good, but what results in the actual improved well-being of the most people. Sam Harris argues this as well. Scapegoating may feel good, but it's easy to argue that it does not actually DO good. It does not result in a net increase in well-being amongst anyone.

  • Steven is stupid for not believieng in god but if nothing could come out of nothing where did the christian god come from space dust

  • Cute. It's really cute when someone thinks they have at least an on-par understanding like Hawkimg and tries to criticize him. Also, you are straw manning utilitarianism with people getting utility from torture, as if. Also, your title is misleading, and you know it. Finally, we already have proof of "nothing" to examine: The Nothing is in The Never-Ending Story and it eats planets.

  • i think thor is god and all of you are wrong read the book of thor or your all doomed!

  • Look, I think Stephen Hawking is a genius. He is only saying that there is no God because he is a scientist. I believe in God but I am not at all angry with him, and you shouldn't either. You have to actually look from a cosmologist's point of view about things like this. Think about it.

  • @tigersforchrist your an idiot!

  • @TheMac1197 Yes exactly. People are affraid to think of that one because they know there is not good answer. Scared little idiots. Can's say I blame them , but unfortunetly I am not that stupid.

  • It's a meaningless question . Time is part of the universe. The universe is always here. What most people do not get is that the beginning to end all exist NOW in spacetime. You can not prevent your self from falling in a black hole with infinite rocket power because you are also falling in the time dimension as well as time and space make up the singularity. This is true with the universe as well. Who made the universe who made god ? That bothered me before I studied physics.

  • Well than what did God come from
