I think people who get degrees -many of them end up in pushing paper at cubical jobs that seem to not really be necessary -like these jobs are devised simply to put people who got degrees & need to pay back student loans & create superficial appearance that something good came of the degrees --I think people should learn trades & agriculture & share in food production -food is important & meaningful & trades give people skills so they can serve others & take care of themselves.

I think you did not quiet get the meaning of what this woman is saying are you? And I don't think this is a call for moving away from technology, but from unsustainable ways of living and working. Next to that, you seem to suggest that humans are in no relation to nature. Everything you eat is coming from nature. You are yourself, and thus you relate to it. Neglecting something you relate to as importantant is ridiculous.

I watched an amazing speech by Allan Savory on TED called "How to fight desertification and reverse climate change". He´s using livestock to revert desertification with great success. I'm not sure but I think some of his ideas might work everywhere to decrease the need for fossilefuel food as grains, soy, corn as food for livestock. It might also revert climate change which is the of the most important questions we have today. Search for Allan Savory, TED.

What about ending our grain dependence? It's killing us anyway.

Forget about the oil shortage. I live in a town which is getting to the point where it will be covered with dogshit soon. Any chance that the 'owners', the dogs and their shit could be converted into fuel which might eradicate human stupidity? Please don't confirm my suspicions by commenting.

Keep in mind though, Sepp is not Vegan. The big difference is that he understands and respects nature as a whole, instead of looking at any single product system.
Plants and animals both have their part to play. You simply have to respect both plants and animals in all their functions.

Search 'Sepp Holzer', he is a man from Austria who lives in the foothills of the mountains there, and he grows on steep, rugged land. There's videos of him on youtube.
