A quick preview of the old, now scrapped engine I was building in Game Maker for my fan game, Metroid Elysium. As of now I'm working fervently on developing a new engine reminiscent of Metroid: Zero Mission; when I'm done, I'll post a preview.

If you want the editable version of this engine, just ask. It's available in both .gm6 and .gmk format.

  • Why you don't use a more powerfull languages like java, python, or specifically fenix (Modern DIV Games Studio).

You will have more flexibility with that.

And you can port it to Linux too. Anyway, if you use java you can only put your game in a webpage and anybody can play it directly installing near nothing.

  • @anyeos The reason I didn't use a more powerful language is because I simply don't know them. Game design is more of a hobby for me.

  • The one you mentioned that you cant get past without getting hurt.

  • @OmegaMaxter Oh, I see. I guess it can, good eye. ;)

  • I know it's supposed to be a homage to the original game, and you did a great job assembling the graphics, but the sounds int he beginning were ear-splitting. also that gap is totally passable if you could bomb-jump.

  • @OmegaMaxter Thanks for the comment. I'm well aware of the ear-splitting nature of the beginning pings. This was because of my recording software; it was... less than great. Also, may I ask which gap you are referring to?

  • @ventinus ok, but with Fenix you need near nothing to know about programming. But still you need to learn something about programming. Search in google for Fenix examples or documentation or utilities. May be that will like you.

  • :3 Having poured so many hours into super metroid as a kid with my grandma, i can spot little things like that with ease any more in metroid-like games. The only game i'm better at is the classic Megaman games

  • Awesome dude awesome!!
