Olight has been making some very impressive lithium powered lights for years, but has never really done a whole lot with the more widely available AA batteries. That changes with the new Baton lights, the S35 and S65, powered by 3 and 6 AA batteries, respectively. The designs of the lights has a very solid body due to the fewer than normal parts that gives them a really great durability and watertight seal.

  • 3 AA light on medium and 6 AA light than high are both brighter than 4 D MagLite.. makes me think MagLite is doing something wrong.

  • @ShadowwwLFS They have newer LED products that are brighter than the incandescent, but they still aren't even close to what other companies are doing.

  • @goingprepared ..yet their lights still are most popular. This world isn't fair :(.

I was very amazed when I found out about the proper flashlights, and my first one will be here soon - ordered a JETBeam PA40 (mainly due to CF body) from your site week ago, can't wait now (shipments from US to here can take up to 3 weeks :< ), I hope it'll perform very well. :P

  • @ShadowwwLFS Yeah, the PA40 is a great light. You should be really happy with it.

  • I was curious to see how the light changes with the diffuser on. Anyways thank you very much :)

  • @mrslider83 Check out our SR51 video. I forgot to do it on these, but that will give you the right idea.

  • @martinaee Actually, 10 years ago 700 lumens from 6 AA batteries was possible too - using NiCD cells, which can handle 15A discharge for AA's and 5A for AAAs.

  • @goingprepared Hmm.... good to know. What I wish more (if any) light makers would do is make professional quality diffusers that are tinted slightly orange so you can essentially make your light into a neutral or warm light if you want. I know you can achieve the same thing with photo gels, but that's sorta ghetto-rigging and I'm paying for Olight/Fenix/Jetbeam quality for a reason lol.

  • @martinaee Knurling is very grippy and is about the same as the TK41. Switches are rubber. I doubt they will ever be available in neutral white as a standard item since they sell horribly. They do have a limited holiday set with a neutral S35 though.

  • How grippy is the "knurling" on these two light? Is it as grippy as the fenix TK41? Or which of between the TK41 and these has better grip overall?

Are the switches soft rubber or hard plastic? (will the switches hold up for a long time since I assume they aren't replaceable like bootcap tailswitches.

Also do you know if this will ever be available in a neutral white xml? I'm looking for a 6-8 aa or 1-2 18650 light but having getting a neutral tint led is pretty important to me.
