As a final project for our Electronics Engineering: Robotics & Automation program at Fanshawe College we had to design a PLC program that would both manually and automatically sort a variety of parts. These parts were different sizes, colours, materials, and weights. We were given only 10 weeks from the Planning Stage to Project Finalization to complete this project. We had to program over a network, using Rockwell Automation' RSLogix5000. As well we created an HMI interface which the user can simply select automatic mode and start the program, or for testing purposes you can select one of the two available manual modes. The manual modes are either logic-specific (certain safety conditions must be met to start a sequence) or they are force-on.
