Josef Ackermann (born in 1948) has been Chairman of the Management Board of the Deutsche Bank AG since 2006. He was elected member of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Bank AG in 1996, where he was responsible for the investment banking division. Under his stewardship the business unit developed into one of the principal revenue sources of Deutsche Bank AG.

Josef Ackermann is visiting professor in Finance at the London School of Economics and plays an active role in the Initiative Finanzstandort Deutschland as a member of the Initiators Group. He received his doctorate in economics and social sciences at the University of St. Gallen in 1977 and has served as Chairman of the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies since 2002.
