Nice preaparation before the olympics, but I feel sorry about them. They had a really good start at the 2009/2010 World Cup season - especially Tim Burke who did 3 podium finishes and was even the World Cup leader before the New Year (2010), but the World Cup season is quite long (about 4 months), that`s why I suppose Tim and the other U.S. biathletes were not in their best shape at the olympics. Tim`s best in Vancouver was the 18th in the mass start, however Jeremy Teela was 9th in the sprint.

Did the US get any medals in Vancouver? (Biathlon)

You might want to look at the Marine Mountain Warfare Training Center. They may not do this as a sport, but I can assure you that this type of training is not forgotten in the U.S.

Im surprised the US military doesn't taket this seriously. It's very important to have good skiers/snipers available in a cold artic warfare. The US have a lot to learn about the European focus on this sport. Skiing and shooting skills is gold in a hostile winter environment.

i know right lol this sport helped push an army back, those silly finn's

if you ever jog and after a mile or two stop abruptly , youll faint without gradual decrease in intesnity of the jog, so I respect that thes epeople do an intense cardio then stop abruptly to concentrate and shoot. I can imagine its trickier than it looks

It's funny cause all the people who chirp this sport have never done it before... Grow up and see if you can do what these people are doing. I will put a bet down to say this is the hardest sport anyone will do. Enough said

OM gosh, I can't believe that person made such a comment! This sport is fascinating, and it makes me think about the original biathlon competitors who were more than likely soldiers who patrolled the Scandinavian countryside protecting their country from Nazis or some other invading force. If you've ever shot, you know how important breath control is, so imagine trying to make that perfect shot after just having skied so hard in subfreezing weather your lungs are about to burst! Go USA!
