Meeting of Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin in private

On February 6, the meeting of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has taken place in the Zelyeniy Hall of the Kremlin in private.

Having welcomed the head of Azerbaijani state, President Vladimir Putin has told that economic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia develop intensively. Especially for the last two years, big growth was outlined in commodity circulation, in particular, for 11 months of the last year commodity circulation has increased for 40 percents. He has noted that various economic projects are carried out, and the Russian - Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission intensively works. V. Putin has told that cooperation in various areas, including, in the field of safety on the Caucasus, combat against terrorism especially became more active. "All these directions of cooperation are on benefit of the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan. I do not doubt that your official visit will promote the even greater development of mutual relations", the President of Russia emphasized.

Having thanked the Russian leader for the invitation to visit with official visit the Russian Federation, President Ilham Aliyev first of all has expressed President Putin and people of Russia condolence in connection with the happened tragedy, terrorist act in the Moscow underground as a result of which there are numerous victims and injured.

Then the head of Azerbaijani state has noted that mutual relations between Russia and Azerbaijan develop successfully in all areas. We have good political contacts, full mutual understanding on bilateral questions, on questions of regional cooperation and we have concurrence of positions on many international problems. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Russia, and we are true to this strategic partnership. This course will be for my part continued, President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized.

According to the President of Azerbaijan, those processes, which occur in our mutual relations for last three years, give the full basis to assert that today's dynamism of the Russian - Azerbaijan relations will develop and further. We are interested in it and confident that peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan are interested in close interaction, Ilham Aliyev said.

Then, the President of Azerbaijan has noted that on the base of already saved up experience in mutual relations, it is possible to assert with confidence that we have good future in the Russian - Azerbaijan relations.

The Russian leader thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for the condolence. He especially emphasized importance of association of efforts in combat against terrorism on the Caucasus and international arena. Naming terror a terrible plague, President Vladimir Putin stressed the necessity of amplification of activity of the law enforcement bodies on safety of the citizens. Thus, the Russian leader especially noted the high level of combat against terrorism in Azerbaijan. "I know that last years, Azerbaijan takes rather effective and consecutive measures in combat against terrorism", he stated. V. Putin expressed hope that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in combat against this global evil will proceed.
