Thank you for commenting. The songs played were Carol of the Bells, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, and Ave Maria.
Eric did create some compositions as part of his theory study during lessons.

I think folk songs go best for kantele!

Eric studied traditional Finnish and Estonian songs for kantele; however, for this Holiday recital, we arranged several appropriate songs for the instrument. The Ukrainian Carol is a folk song, of course, and the two classical pieces on any folk stringed instrument are enchanting. The mood for Ave Maria on the kantele was extraordinary.

Really nice... I play bigger types of kannel, chromatic and people's kannel (rahvakannel) myself, but I think the little ones sound much more enchanting.

Thank you; I agree. The 5- and 15-strings made for me by Gerry Henkel have extraordinarily ethereal sounds.
Eric was studying the instrument to become closer to his culture. :)
