You can always get a MacMini. I used mine with my old win keybd and monitor . So your basic outlay is like 600 and change. I also used Air Video Server for streaming videos. I watch anything in the house on any machine with ipad, iphone and it allows for TV-out so I can plug up with large screen. I didnt think Plex was that great. I wont elaborate, Air Video is much better

I think an iMac is a good idea i have Windows 7 and its not working out to great im switching back to Mac.
