1999 Frontier at the Glen
Watkins Glen International
August 15, 1999

Ron Fellows had one more chance to catch Jeff Gordon, but he wasn't able to catch him. Jeff Gordon won his third straight race at Watkins Glen, his fifth in a row on a road course. He would become a road course king, winning seven in a row between 1997 and 2000, nine road wins overall.

At 2:23 you can barely see it, but there is a spin by Joe Nemehcek and Bill Elliott, ruining what would have been top 10 runs for both.

Pause at 3:02 and you can see Dale Earnhardt crashing into the styrofoam barriers. He leaves a huge mess at the end of the race (ESPN never showed a replay of that accident).

Finally at 3:10, Ted Christopher gets stuck in turn 10, ruining a top 25 finish. It was a wild and crazy last lap.

Again, as I stated in part 1, anyone is welcome to finish this race. I do not have the start through lap 37.

Credit to ESPN.
