This song was very contemporary at the time it was written in the late 60's but seems even more relevant today of course it discusses domestic issues in a marriage as well. Also, racism was tackled head on of course you have to listen to the lyrics sometimes more than once or twice before they hit you like a ton of bricks. Great song!
Heard this on the radio the other day. Hadn't heard it for years and it's just as relevant today as it was way back then. We really do teach our children our morals and beliefs because they listen and we forget they are there.
I have always loved this song ever since my gram played it for me when I was 6. It took me a while to figure out the meaning but when I did, my eyes kind of opened a little. I don't know, this song is a great song that I love so much :)
This song describes what children talk about when they're with buddies. Children learn all sorts of stuff from parents. Imagine what they say now: Skip a dad, skip a mom. Skip a family. Sad, very , very sad. When I was young, most everybody had original families.
