We were trying to take a mini bus from Santa Teresa to Santa Maria returning to Cuzco from Machu Picchu. We rounded the corner and came upon this. Somehow, an hour later we were across after a dozer came and cleared a rough route through the debris.
i am from Peru... and what these hotel owners are doing is outrageous...but just the simple fact that they are making hotels near the mountain of machu picchu says a lot that they don't care about architecture much less about people..it is embarrasing what they are doing instead of helping others..but that's life not only in peru but all over the world.
It's incredible how the hotel owners near Machu Picchu are taking advantage of the near 2000 stranded tourists that are there now because of the rain. What amazes me is how all over the world people help third world countries whenever a natural disaster occurs, as in haiti right now and how these locals are taking advantage of the situation to line their pockets instead of lending them a helping hand. These people have no conscience.
