Dare to Dream Different Contest - AlarmCore Clock

The world s most awesome alarm clock. All ideas would be user configurable, and are only go off on weekdays, use speech synthesis to read out calendar events after alarm cancellation, display/read news feeds, not go off when calendar dictates a holiday, wake up when an event is earlier than normal wake up time, voice recognition if possible for setting date/time/alarm. I m unsure what I could get working, but speech synthesis and recognition would be a main goal, with a display of some sorts essential regardless... perhaps use it to show weather reports, daily video clips etc. Perhaps some kind of face recognition, or movement recognition of some kind to illuminate the screen only when stared at, using a light sensor to determine brightness.
