Yes, and she should be able to defend that point. Its politics. Go strong or go home. When I was mayor and city council man of my township we were hit with all types of questions, and not just on the local level, and we needed to be sharp and on point. That is what the public, your base, and your constituency expect. Obviously, she is way out of her league.

Really. Why didn't she say that then asshole? Here I can tell you right off of the top of my head what I read. Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Suntimes, NewsWeek, and the Los Angeles Times. See how easy that was. A fifth grader could have answered in the amount of time she was alloted. And this woman would have been second in line to the presidency. It's difficult to say who's more stupid: her or you for taking the statement literally. She was trying to say that she reads widely. Now you don't have to believe that but that's obviously what she meant. Have you ever been asked a question like that out of the blue by a reporter? No? Thought not. Minds go blank at times. Also whichever newspapers or magazines she mentions the media would use it to make some political point against her.
