just wondering but with the foot landing down on the heel and the weight of the back foot being lifted, wouldn't that lead this the machines front leg slipping forward and the whole thing tumbling down?

No, cause this is not a real machine but only a cartoon ;)
I wont make realistic animation. This is just a funny walk :)
