Wintersday 2009

This was my entry for the Guild Wars Wintersday Art Contest 2009. The music is composed by Jeremy Soule and arranged for / performed on the piano by me. It didn't place, but I'm still proud of it.

can you tell me how you got the crying pool effect?

Sure: I took a screen capture of the scrying pool and put that image aside. I created a similar image with the water cut out. I made the frame one color green and the place where the water was cut out pink.

I put the image on top of the video and used chroma keying to remove the pink center. I created a video from this and then began a new project with the program I was using. I used chroma keying to remove the green frame while retaining the pentagonal shape of the video, and I applied a mirage effect to make the video move like water. I put this video on top of the original screen capture.

Did you have to mutilate a bow to do that? Either way, sounds great and the sacrifice of a bow was worth it (unless it was made of oak, then I would have to cry)

Nah, it's nylon fishing line coated in rosin. :P

The horse hair breaks easily when you do this, so don't waste a violin bow on it!

Lol.nice scrying pool effect.frankly i try to make it sound like a t.v ... i watch the discovery channle on the scying pool :D, 5 stars on your awesom playing,though.
