my first Steve Roach live experience in a very relaxed atmosphere featuring guest percussionist Byron Metcalf. The event lasted nearly four hours of mesmerizing sound and vision for one to become completely immersed in; clips thereof compose this mere snapshot of one of the highest concert experiences ever witnessed

  • Flew out to Tucson with my son and saw this one too. Fantastic concert. 4 hours of pure Roach.

  • Dude. I made the trip from HB-Surf City to Flagstaff to see Steve play 2 shows that evening. Have 5 or 6 vids on youtube from that evening. Check it out if you already haven't. Camped out in the desert the night before and the night after the concert. One of my best road trips!!

  • Very impressive music...

  • I had to cancel going to the Flagstaff show, which kind of disappointed me. When I saw the pics of the venue, though, I was kind of relieved I didn't go because of the small chairs. I'm glad I paid for the ticket, because it was for a good cause.

The best way to listen to Steve's music is to have your own "space" where you can lie back and let your mind wander.

  • They prob. need to take a break and go to one of Metzner's workshops.

  • Then, there was the addition of a second show which created a distinctly hurried "beat-the-clock" atmosphere.

All in all, the evening (slated to be his only live performance for 2008) felt thrown-together and contrived; as if Steve's heart really wasn't in it.

Oh, well - that's Flagstaff for ya.

  • Wish I'd been there. Been enjoying Steve's music since the Stormwatch days. Had tickets but had to cancel a week prior. Caught the Flagstaff show, though, but what a disappointment. There's just nothing relaxing about sitting for two hours in crappy, tightly-spaced folding chairs. Plus, it felt at times like he was trying to cram too much sound (and he generates a LOT of it) into a decidedly shabby space that couldn't properly accomodate it.
