Yes, it could be that too. (If both of them went to Subway, they both should have bought one sandwich each unless they didn't have enough money to buy two sandwiches).

It looks like a pepperoni sandwich that the monsters are sharing and eating. Or maybe it's a salami or tomato slices sandwich.

As soon as the monsters split the sandwich in half, the monster on the left with the horns pointed downward looks like he has a bigger half than the monster with the horns pointed upward.

Yeah, but then again, they both share the same stomache. So it's a moot point which one eats, so long as they both get the food inside them. Maybe the other just wants a taste.
