Hrm really? I do follow up hits all the time at the end of a round and it's never done out of disrespect. I just do it because I dunno, it's like finishing a possible combo. If I wanted to disrespect my opponent I would taunt during our match or something.

some people refer to it as the "No Respect" hit. its basically a taunt. so i guess it can be considered disrespectful.

I never thought the point of the announcer is to call out what the audience can already see. It's to point out what the audience CAN'T see or probably missed.
An event with casuals/people who know nothing about SF in the audience kind of need an announcer. They don't know when someone faked a grab/cross-up, baited a jump, why such and such is having a hard time getting in. They don't see the game the same way.
