Frisner Augustin, Erol Josué, & La Troupe Makandal at the Univesity of Florida, sponsored by the Center for World Arts (http://www.arts.ufl.edu/cwa).

La Troupe Makandal was founded in 1973 by a group of young musicians and dancers in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The company left for New York in 1981 to seek assistance from Frisner Augustin, a Haitian master drummer. With its unique mix of tradition and innovation, La Troupe Makandal educates, entertains, and heals racial and cultural divisions through workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and residencies, including its Krik!Krak! program which provides classes for children at three community centers in Brooklyn.
