This song is for all those female (staffs/employees) working in the Airline Industry. They should consider Amelia Earhart as their Flying Icon, cos she's the one who took initiative in popularizing Females with the Airline Industry.
Amelia Earhart was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, which she was awarded as the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, the Cross of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the French Government and the Gold Medal of the National Geographic Society from President Herbert Hoover.
After a flight lasting 14 hours, 56 minutes during which she contended with strong northerly winds, icy conditions and mechanical problems, Earhart landed in a pasture at Culmore, north of Derry, Northern Ireland. The landing was witnessed by Cecil King and T. Sawyer. When a farm hand asked, "Have you flown far?" Amelia replied, "From America." The site now is the home of a small museum, the Amelia Earhart Centre.
Red River Dave McEnery wrote this song on July 2, 1939, the day Amelia disappeared. He just needed something new for his band to perform so he wrote this song in the afternoon and performed it that night.
AMELIA EARHART'S LAST FLIGHT (1939) (Red River Dave McEnery)
Lyrics: A ship out on the ocean, just a speck against the sky, Amelia Earhart flying that sad day; With her partner, Captain Noonan, on the second of July Her plane fell in the ocean, far away.
Chorus: There's a beautiful, beautiful field Far away in a land that is fair. Happy landings to you, Amelia Earhart Farewell, first lady of the air.
She radioed position and she said that all was well, Although the fuel within the tanks was low. But they'd land on Howland Island to refuel her monoplane, Then on their trip around the world they'd go. (This part is missing in this song)
Well, a half an hour later an SOS was heard, The signal weak, but still her voice was brave. In shark-infested waters her plane went down that night In the blue Pacific, to a watery grave.
There's a beautiful, beautiful field Far away in a land that is fair. Happy landings to you, Amelia Earhart Farewell, first lady of the air.
Well, now you have heard my story of that awful tragedy, We pray that she might fly home safe again. Oh, in years to come though others blaze a trail across the sea, We'll ne'er forget Amelia and her plane.
There's a beautiful, beautiful field Far away in a land that is fair. Happy landings to you, Amelia Earhart Farewell, first lady of the air.
QUEEN OF THE SKY New model's of Aircraft will come and go as time pass by, but for me the "Queen of Sky " will always be a Boeing 747-200. No aircraft can match the beauty, the charm and the streamlined fuselage a 747-200 has.
Not as a profession and neither for hobby's sake but one day I will fly a "Mechanical Bird" just for the sake of my passion I have for an Airplane !!!

I remember this song from my early childhood. Somebody sang it to me, and the only thing that studk with me was the last line of the chorus. The movie made me think of it. Thanks for putting it up.
The Pilot's license, just like a couple of Amelia's early job applications sometimes featured inaccurate info supplied by Amelia. Both as Amelia & later self, she was reluctant to reveal her true age to people. However, after she achieved fame her self-supplied data all featured her true 1897 birth year. And yes, in the Irene-Amelia website there is info in two different places about Chandra Bose, plus a chapter titled "The Bose Parallel" in 2004's 'Protecting Earhart.'

I have some curious questions:
(1) Since the first aeroplane was invented by Wright Brother in 1903, what does flying means to our society and the world?
(2) What is aviation and flying means to female?
(3) Why do ladies love flying, including me?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
P.S. I am a lady who enjoy flying.
Nice to see, that some persons still think of Amelia Earhart.
