Part one of DJ Lithium's Timecode DJ mix (The Headphone mix version).
All the action including the sound that DJ Lithium hears while mixing is included in this video!
Real DJs play records because they can see, and feel the music and this demonstrates what a DJ does and how it sounds to him during the mixing process.
All of the adjustments, mistakes and cuing that you hear is normal. This is how a DJ prepares to get ready for the next mix of the record which the crowd will hear (the transition between records only).

The mix was produced using 2x Technics SL-1200MKII (original 1980 release models) with an American Audio QFX-19 Mixer, using Shure Whitelabel carts and an assortment of records.

The video was produced using 5 cameras (Mixer view shot in HD at 1440x1080p 30fps) placed around the action including 2 lipstick camers mounted to show close up on the decks which are visible on the main video area as two black tubes placed on the corners of the mixer in the upper right and upper left areas (from the DJs perspective) of the mix board.
The video was then compiled together using NewTek's SpeedEdit 1.5 (www.newtek.com) at full 1920x1080p resolution before being down converted to Youtube.com sizes.

  • Digging the Platipus mats ;)

  • @deviant2k I love those mats! I pull them out for special occasions (live gigs, recording) but use them sparingly because I can't find replacements that I like at the moment outside of my stanton super thin mats.

  • I'm trying to find the tracklisting for your Dark Days set, but it's nowhere to be found (or is it somewhere?...)

  • @CzechRiot At the moment its not up. I like to give some space between the mix releases and the playlists to give the vinyl pressing labels out there a break from all the digital download/dj wankers that just use the playlists as search engine torrent fodder.

If you email me direct off the blacktigerrecordings . com site I will see what I can do.

  • the sound is kind of low .

  • Yeah I didn't want to over do it, too many vids on youtube blast you out of your seat.

  • lol took u so long to reply like 2 months xD

  • Love the music :D heard about Dj Lithium while searching through radios made me curious , awsome music really :)

  • Now this, i like. You did a great thing by giving the entire headphone input. Nicely done! Love the comment about not drifting into the mix, lol.

  • I use the 45RPM adapters as a kind of "Clutch" for speeding up and slowing down the records. Originally I did it to save my thumbs from twisting the posts all the time, but then I found I could reduce the "whiirrr" during a correction using them instead. Works very well and I have been doing it for over 10 years now.
