No. The speed of sound is 331.4 m/s and Fry said that the plant spurts at 345 m/s or so. In that case, the tree is quite a bit faster than the speed of sound.

What about animals who create sonic booms? The manikin bird beats its wings in such a way, and there are crabs who do as well. Is that not faster?
