A Good support system is one of the more important things you can invest in. It can also be one of the more expensive ones. B&H gave me a hand in searching for affordable tripods for DSLR video work.

Mounting from the front means the camera can fall off the front. That's why they made that choice on the Matthews.

i like the Davis & Sanford Provista 7518 Tripod w/FM18 Head im looking to get a tripod that will help with rolling shutter and i want to buy a tripod and not have to think about it for awhile. can someone suggest something better then the davis but not to much higher in price maybe my budget is 300 bucks

@alexbezdicek Agreed. Very informative but would benefit from a condensed version. I came here by happenstance but a guy I followed Dave Dugdale does recommend him highly. I'm just starting so the first tripod looks like a winner to me.
