The basset, alto and bass clarinets all pretty much look the same to me. But in sound, what a difference!
-
does anyone know where i can buy one of these things without spending $10,000?
-
What is the difference between Basset Horns and Basset Clarinets?
-
Not exactly graceful for a woman to play.
-
I play bass clarinet, I would die for one of these
-
whoa that looks so cool! i would love to play that, but it probally has a huge case. bigger then my clarinet anyway.

It seems that all horns are pitched in F; French horn, English horn and basset horn.

No you are thinking of a basset clarinet. They are pitched in A like a normal A clarinet but have a range to low C. These are in fact basset horns pitched in F with a range to low C. I know because Im playing in the video. Alto clarinets and Basset Horns do look alike but the two are different. Alto clarinets are pitched in Eb and have a range to low Eb. If you still don't trust me go to Buffet-Crampon's web sight and see for your self.
