The Dalhousie Privateers, sponsored by Shell, and the Dalhousie Faculties of Engineering and Computer Science.

This is the first year we are competing in MATE's annual ROV competition. This year the competition is being held June 26th-28th 2008 in San Diego, California.

That's the ROV sitting poolside. We have an onboard computer that after being connected to power begins startup. Once started, we VNC into the ROV's computer via a laptop and start the server software. Once this has started we initiate the client and connect to the ROV's server. This gives us control over which cameras are currently transmitting, which motors are firing and the movement of the arm.

  • Explorer class I assume?

I wish you had more video!

  • Yeah it's Explorer class. We only had a video camera for about an hour one day and the film job is shoddy at best.

Might be seeing you in San Diego? Where are you from?
