  • Simply amazing.

  • Truly magnificent!---Well spent time. If there was ever a reason to send more rovers --you certainly found plenty.

  • good job JPL

  • THAT'S SO AWESOME! Those rovers were built so well than previously predicted! 90 days VS. 7 years! That is spectacular! The data and images are so crisp and clean! I wonder how long Opportunity will last? I'll be amazed if lasts a decade, or even longer, but I won't be surprised! Spirit has gone silent though... No data is being received anymore... Anyways, these rovers are an absolute marvel! INCREDIBLE JOB!

  • Cant wait for the new rover to go there. Very interesting landing system.A stereo video of the landing would be mind blowing :D

  • @irusev yepp, JPL should have installed wipers! :)

  • @irusev It's going to be bigger yes... names Curiosity. Google: "Mars MSL Curiosity"

  • @YMBatal Well if there is a potential for the rovers to last years, a slow very economic wipers could have been developed but it is obvious that it was not needed, Nuclear rover sounds amazing ...is it going to be big?

  • I highly recommend for those who haven't seen it, Roving Mars, the movie.

  • @irusev Solar power isn't as powerful as you might think for wipers, the rover already travels at tortoise speed. And for a 90-day mission, no cleaning method were required, the 7 years were just a bonus. The next Mars rover will be nuclear powered, so expect longer missions. Hope that answers your question.

  • I remember the night when both rovers landed and sent back the first hi-res photos. My eyes widened and has been such an inspiration for my own creativity and vision when it comes to my illustrations and dreams of space. The next day after NOVA broadcasted the successful landing and first photos (of the landing airbags deflated and the panels extended out, like a gleaming sun lily, you can see endless crimson sands tarnished a deep rust). It was amazing.

Now if we can get back to the Moon. H3!
