what software do you use?

@Zankoaaron I use Adobe Premiere Elements 7, actually. It allows you to use multiple layers so you can move characters around without doing making frame-by-frame pictures. It's actually only $60 now on Amazon, so it's a pretty good deal. If you have any questions about animating or techniques and stuff you can just send me a message in my inbox!

@GamerComedy Yes, Yes you should. Earthbound and Mother 3 are the best of the three IMO. Earthbound takes a bit to get into it at first, though.
