The pleasure is apparently not for the horse. At least, not judging by the shut down half dead appearance of these poor animals being made to perform totally unnatural gaits. All the pleasure is then for the rider, how very selfish.

@GhodiGirl Its actually harder than you think, and they use alot of strength going that slow (have seen better shows than this though) .. They ride in every step of the horse - and don't get anything for granted. If they didn't do anything - the horse will speed up or go to a complete halt .. Thats how they should be ridden anyways

Stock Horse breeds Western Pleasure classes must be the most boring of horse-sports. If you are going to trot at the speed of a walk, why not just walk? Its the same speed people, but less bouncy. Same with the lope,, the only way u can tell they are loping is the slight head-bob. Give me a reiner or roper anyday instead!
