The line that goes....." They tricked us out of music with this latest fashion stunt" is the only line I can think of that perfectly fills all of its syllables........cant think of a fuller line than that!

No, it's a dumb song. I know what it means. I also know that it sucks. If I ever heard Jerry Jeff Walker or Bob Dylan singing this song, I'd cry almost as hard as the people below cried when I made fun of their best guy Don McLean.

Saw Don McLean in concert last year. This is, without rival, the DUMBEST song ever. If there was a song that could come close, it's Jerusalem (another Don McLean song). It was worth the price of admission to hear American Pie live, but he must've strangled the guy who really wrote earlier songs like Vincent / American Pie. His songs were SOOOO dumb ("how dumb were they?"), that if they were people, they'd have to wear helmets outside. We thought he was making it up as he went along.
